Dreams PM was the perfect backdrop for my dream wedding

--Beyond Memorable Package with 104 guests--
Overall everyone loved the resort. A few of our guests had issues with their rooms and had to be moved (our TA was a great help during this) but the consensus was that the entire wedding/resort was a fairy tale 😊 . The construction was a HUGE turn-off for me, I wish they would have told me, so I was aware. My guest didn’t mind but it was an eyesore in my opinion. They also need to do better with bugs…I was at a different property a few days before and saw no bugs, my guest and I were nearly eaten alive at Dreams (yes, we had on plenty of bus spray). I still loved the resort and the staff was beyond amazing…it would be 5 stars if not for the bugs.
The rooms are very nice, nicer than most so that will really wow your guest. We did a Private Pool Junior suite so that we had some privacy away from all of our guests. My husband has a rule on vacation that he has to get in the water at least once a day so we def. used it. It is not completely private, but we were able to enjoy it without reservations 😊 the upstairs terrace was great for day-of pictures as well.
The food was good and average. I found the wedding food to be the best, but we were never hungry. Our guests did not complain about the food at all and seemed to find what they needed. I would def, suggest going to the Secrets side for more upscale dining options. The hibachi was some of the best food we ate at Dreams and please note that room service takes FOREVER!!!
In terms of the wedding…service was amazing. Marcela has been a dream since the day I paid my deposit back in 2018. She has never taken longer than 24 hours to respond, she was timely and able to add things at literally a moment’s notice (my husband wanted to add light up letters for our rehearsal the night before and she made it happen). She and her team did a great job bringing my vision to life. WORD OF ADVICE: Know that everything won’t be perfect and that is okay. I knew how I wanted to feel and how I wanted my guest to feel and decided to curate a vibe more than obsessing over every detail. It allowed me to relax and really enjoy my guest. I honestly had the best wedding weekend ever.
Day-of Rundown:
- Sara and her team of 2 arrived at 9:15 am to do makeup for 10 ladies + me. They did an amazing job! I showed them pictures and asked that they start there and enhance based on each lady. They were timely, super sweet, and really did an amazing job!
o I had the ladies arrive at the room 15 mins before their time slot and they had the option to stay or go during that time.
- Marcela checked in all day. It was pouring down rain all morning and at around 1 pm I had to make the call to mover everything inside. I freaked out for like 10 seconds then we moved on. She picked me up in a golf cart and took me to the Bridal suite right before the wedding. (note on bridal suite: We got ready in my room, so we had better lighting, but it was nice to have a place to sit and grab a snack right before go time. It was not needed but super cheap, so I used it for my dress to reveal to my BM and Father). It cleared up and the ceremony ended up being outside which I REALLY WANTED (I dreamed of him seeing me come down those stairs for over a year). The reception was moved to the ballroom and that was blessing…it was air-conditioned and it ended up raining again that night. I had no idea what the ballroom would look like before my entrance, but Marcela and her team did a great job.
- Silvina and her team arrived around 12:30 pm to shoot for the day (we have 2 photogs, 2 videos, and a drone). She did an amazing job of directing us but also taking my suggestions into account. We had them until about 9:30 pm. I would suggest getting as many photos before as possible, excitement, guest, and the sunset are barriers after the wedding.
WOULD YOU DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN IN MEXICO?
I would 100% do it all over again! I absolutely loved having time to relax and party with my guest before the big day. By the time the reception rolled around I had caught up with everyone, so I had no shame in cutting a convo short to twerk to my jam lol
WHAT WAS THE TOUGHEST PART OF PLANNING YOUR WEDDING?
The toughest part was letting go. If you are type A, which I am, you must find a way to let go and trust that they will do their job. I was extremely detailed in all notes and meetings with WC but I decided that once I got on the plane it was our of my hands. My friends were sooo shocked by how calm I was, but I refused to stress in paradise.
ADVICE TO FUTURE BRIDES:
1. You and your partner need to make the decision on if a DW is right for you. We knew we wanted to do it and we're fine if only 10 people showed up. Don’t plan your wedding for others!
2. Pick a few things that are important to you and focus/spend money on those things. Anything that is not on that list should not stress you out.
3. Nobody is going to remember the centerpieces – I don’t even remember lol don’t let what’s on the tables stress you out. All your guests will talk about is how beautiful you and Mexico were and how much fun they had!
4. DW are not always the cheapest route so don’t let that be the reason you choose to do it
Happy planning to all the new members and feel free to ask me ANYTHING! This group was truly a godsend 😊
